Individual Counseling

Individuals attend counseling for a wide range of reasons. Many desire a sense of fulfillment and others wish to function more effectively. Individual counseling can take any number of paths depending on whether the individual wishes to address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship or work problems, or is simply in search of more meaning in his / her life. The counseling approach one takes depends on both what the client is seeking and the skills of the therapist. Effective counseling is confidential, non-judgmental, empowering, collaborative and works at a pace that is best suited to the client. To be effective, a counselor must be empathetic to the needs of the client, but must also have the knowledge and experience with the issues at hand, and take into account how individual differences such as gender, race, age, and ethnicity impact a person.
